ABOUT C.A.P.S.

MARLO (Instructor) AND MARSHA FEICK

Marlo retired at the rank of Captain in 1998 after 33 years with the Iowa State Patrol. While on the Patrol he was a member of the District 4 pistol team for several years. He also served on and was later the leader of one of the Patrol’s tactical units.

In 2001 he started shooting competitively in SASS (Single Action Shooting Society) or as some call it, cowboy action shooting. He continues shooting today where he is president of his local club, The Zen Shootists. He also shoots at several other clubs around Iowa, and on occasion travels to other States to compete. Around the SASS circuit he is known as “Cap Horn”.

Marlo is NRA certified as a Range Officer; Basic Pistol Instructor and Personal Protection in the Home Instructor. He has been teaching courses to obtain a concealed carry weapons permit since May of 2004.

Marsha has been active in the insurance industry for the last 31 years. During most of this time she was an avid golfer, having golfed league a majority of the time. That was until she was introduced to SASS and cowboy action shooting in 2001. Since then she has put her golf clubs away. You will probably find her at the local gun shows either manning a booth for C.A.P.S. or the Zen Shootists. The rest of her spare time is devoted to shooting competitively in SASS where she is known as “Granger Grannie”.  As she says, “I may be slow, but I am accurate”. She also helps Marlo with the C.A.P.S. classes, taking care of registrations, paper work for the Sheriffs’ offices, and certificates for class completions.  Oh, and don’t forget the “goodies” she bakes for the second night of class!
