- Four hour classroom
- On a Thursday, 6 pm - 10 pm (see calendar for specific dates)
- Various Federal Regulations
- Use of Deadly Force
- Code of Iowa Laws Chapter 724
- Handgun knowledge & safe handling
- No firing on the range required*
* Basic Course - Even though Iowa law does not require firing on a live range, we strongly encourage you to do so. The range firing is not a competition event and is open to individuals of all skill levels. Whether you are a novice or an expert, carrying a concealed weapon is a serious responsibility and practice is vital to honing your skills!

- Range phase is on Thursday of the following week, 6 pm - 8 pm (see calendar for specific dates)

- Use of Deadly Force
- Code of Iowa Laws Chapter 724
- Handgun knowledge & safe handling
- Ammunition knowledge
- Fundamentals of shooting
- Firing Positions
- Range Safety Procedures
- Range firing consists of two strings of six shots at each range below
- 5 yards
- 7 yards
- 9 yards
Equipment needed for the Basic Plus Course
- Any centerfire handgun
- 50 rounds of factory ammunition
- Ear and eye protection *eyeglasses are acceptable
